This November is bustling with artistic events. It's Thanksgiving and I'm thankful that my long awaited DVD is arriving in early December. Just in time for Christmas.
 I've just completed one of my most important paintings, and our Princeville, Kauai gallery has had its best month ever. We have had some great art created in our painting workshops on Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island. Some of our new events, like our painting parties at Tahiti Nui Luau Lounge, are meant to get new painters started in an unintimidating setting.
 Mom is my hero and her new "From The Master's Heart" CD is finally out, putting her famous poems to voice and music.
Finally, one of my favorite hikes is commemorated on T shirts and caps (see below) featuring the Koko Crater Hike. There is so much going on in the world of art. It is making my colorful head spin.
Do you know that my version of a Thanksgiving turkey is a well stuffed parrotfish? Here's one that blessed me back in the day.

Honu Seal Sunset
Inspiration: NEW RELEASE! 11/16/2011 - 20% Off Until 12/7/2011 There are places where Monk Seals and Sea Turtles come ashore and occasionally rest beside each other. Monk seals will snuggle up to anything as I learned the first time I slept on the beach outside my tent on Laysan Island in the Northwest Hawaiian chain. This painting was inspired by a photograph taken by George Balazs, Hawaiian sea turtle expert. The original photograph can be seen in the book I authored called The Hawaiian Monk Seal. It was a cloudy shot that I recomposed with a Honu I saw at Punalu'u Beach, Big Island, Hawaii. I painted the scene with a sunset setting. It was a great challenge to create the multi colored sunset reflections on the animals.
I feel this will be one of my most notable paintings ever. It was sold before it was finished to an awesome couple who saw themselves in the painting. I'm holding a contest to name this painting. If you email me with your title I will give a medium sized gicle'e to the first person who comes up with the winning name.
