When the sun floods the area with light, a brilliant dance of color can be seen in its angelic rays. A large Kukui nut tree, shown in the upper right corner, once grew in front of the falls. Kukui means “light” or “enlighten” in Hawaiian because the nuts of this tree were used as candles and torches. Be careful not to slow down to look for the falls.
