The Green Sea Turtle is named not for the color of its shell, but for the color of its body fat which is green due to the turtles' vegetarian diet. Once a popular food item, green turtles are now protected by law. The setting for this scene is Waimanalo Bay on the island of Oahu. In the background are the hills of Lanikai and the peninsula of Mokapu which from a distance resembles a swimming turtle. The island of Moku Manu and the Mokulua Islands are shown on the right. | |||
