  • Patrick Ching - Shriner's Under The Sea Art Contest

I'm excited to be serving as a celebrity judge in Shriners Hospitals' Under the Sea Art Contest.

As a child I grew up so bow legged, knock kneed and pigeon toed that I became a patient at Shriner's Hospital. After a couple years of wearing "Forest Gump" leg braces and hospital visits my legs became straighter. I've always been thankful to the Shriner's for that.

On my recent visit to the hospital to judge the art contest, memories came back to me of walking in front of the doctors and other patients families upon return visits to the hospital. When I was in elementary school I became a fast runner and baseball player and all my friends and coaches laughed hysterically when I ran with my feet swinging out behind me. They called me "Crazy Legs".

I was really impressed to see the new hospital and learn of all the good it does for children who really need its help. I met the people who work on a floor with several of my paintings on it. We had some chicken skin moments as they welcomed me with kindness.

The Children's art was amazing and several judges selected the finalists from nearly a thousand entries. Lots of art and good healthy fun being had by all.
